Freeformer's Tour of New Zealand 2008

The tour presents to perfect opportunity to combine travel and textiles. See the unique thermal areas of the north island and take in the great cultural diversity that is New Zealand, while at the same time attending temporary attractions such as the Craft & Quilt Fair in Hamilton, and the World of Wearable Art awards in Wellington.
Visit galleries, textile studios, wool shops and yarn producers. Explore the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, take a boat trip on beautiful Lake Rotorua, and attend a traditional Maori hangi and concert. Meet with local knitting groups, and find out all about the current craft scene in NZ. |
Relax by picturesque Lake Taupo and participate in freeform workshops run exclusively for the tour members (with golf or fishing trips arranged for non-crafty partners).
This 12 night tour leaves downtown Auckland on the morning of Saturday, Sept 20, and will conclude after breakfast (back in Auckland) on Thursday, Oct 2. Travelling overland we visit the main cities of Te Ika a Maui (the North Island), passing through picturesque rural areas, and the travelling the Desert Road.

See cosmopolitan Wellington, the nation’s capital, with its quaint Victorian wooden buildings on steep terraced hills. Explore Rotorua’s gurgling hot springs, bubbling mud, and gushing geysers. Visit the Agrodome, Fairy Springs Trout Farm, Huka Falls, the ‘Craters of the Moon’ and the Te Puia thermal village. Get creative at the Craft & Quilt Fair and in the Freeform workshops.
Land content price is AU$2,990.00, and includes twin share accommodation, all ground transportation and sightseeing, workshops, all breakfasts and many other meals, plus entry fees to tourist attractions and premium seating at the opening night performance of WOW.
